Blessings

Those who live to bless others will have blessings heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessings will be saturated with favor. (Proverbs 11:25, The Passion Translation)

In your life, do you find that positive giving people are more enjoyable to be around than problematic individuals that are focused entirely on their own challenging issues?  C.S. Lewis said it like this: Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” With all that happens in the lifespan of a person, it can at times be difficult not to focus on the negative issues (or challenges) that park themselves in our life like a stubborn, unyielding weed in a flower garden.

Often times in life, you have little control over the challenges that happen to you. (God is in charge of that.) The only thing you can manage is your attitude about what’s happening. In life I’ve learned that trying to find the positive in a negative situation makes your life a whole lot more manageable.

I’ve also learned that seeking to bless others takes the focused off my challenges, and makes me more concerned with the needs of others. Emotionally I always get more out of helpings others than I give in the process. Plus, I always find my attitude is always improved positively.

God makes this promise to you in Luke 6:38 (ERV) when you give generously to others: Give to others, and you will receive. You will be given much. It will be poured into your hands—more than you can hold. You will be given so much that it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you. The choice is up to you. How can you creatively be a blessing to someone who desperately needs that right now?
