Gold

It is better to be respected than to be rich. A good name is worth more than silver or gold. (Proverbs 22:1-2, Easy-to-Read Version)

Has there ever been anyone in your life that when you hear there last name that negative words like the following come to mind: liar, hot-head, cheater, disloyal, hypocrite, or abusive come to mind. When someone loses respect for you, or your name becomes “dirty,” it is often extremely difficult to repair that kind of damage with another individual. It could take years of hard emotional work to finally make things right.

Nothing is better than knowing you have spoken something positive into someone life. That because of you someone is a better person. If we can all strive for this, when your name is mentioned it will be associated with good character qualities.  Proverbs 16:24(TPT) says it this way: Nothing is more appealing than speaking beautiful, life-giving words. For they release sweetness to our souls and inner healing to our spirits.

If you are a follower of Jesus, an important goal in life is for Him to respect you (and think well of you when you come to His mind). God created us, and our ultimate goal in life is to please Him. Psalm 19:14 (ICB) says: I hope my words and thoughts please you. Lord, you are my Rock, the one who saves me. How are you improving at doing this in your daily life?
