The God we serve is a God of unity who desires that we live in unity and harmony built on the foundation that is Jesus Christ. It is Jesus who draws us together makes our bond stronger. Individuals today have a lot of values. Some find importance in political correctness or social responsibility.
Your Heavenly Father declares that nothing is as important as being united in love.
God calls us to be powerful people that bring about change in the way we are unified. That's why we are likened to a body because what gets things done is unity in diversity. 1 Corinthians 12:12 (MSG) says, "You can easily enough see how this kind of thing works by looking no further than your own body. Your body has many parts (limbs, organs, cells)but no matter how many parts you can name, you’re still one body. It’s exactly the same with Christ."
Our Heavenly Father stands and affirms the power of unity in getting things done. Imagine what we can do if we are united for the correct reasons. Unity is vital to building strong and vibrant churches. Today, life is plagued by all sorts of things disguised in the name of truth. Fact centralized on the person of Jesus Christ, will bring unity and not division.
The enemy we fight finds no intimidation with people that are fighting with one another. What threatens Satan is a force built on one foundation and brought closer together by the love of God. Your Heavenly Father values unity and relationships built on Him. There is power in being brought together in Jesus' name. Unity can be both wonderful and pleasant in several ways:
1.
Unity
is a precious gift.
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live together in peace.” (Psalm
133:1,
VOICE)
2. Unity is a refreshing
gift.
“Be
humble. Be gentle. Be patient. Tolerate one another in an atmosphere thick with love.” (Ephesian 4:2, VOICE)
3.
Unity
is non- manufactureable, but can be easily destroyed.
“Finally,
brothers and sisters keep rejoicing and repair whatever is broken. Encourage
each other, think as one, and live at peace; and God, the Author of love and peace, will remain with you.” (2 Corinthians 13:11, VOICE)
“I can do things you cannot, you can
do things I cannot; together we can do great things.” (Mother Teresa)[i]
