Control means to have authority over something. Humans like to think they are in control of their lives, but it only takes a major illness to realize that the Almighty has all the power in producing the positive medical results that are needed to sustain life. Learning to let go and let God have His way in your life is the best thing to do for yourself.
Humans adore their life plans. Many of us grow up hearing advice like this: “You can do anything you set your mind to do,” or “Follow your heart.” Ultimately, the Heavenly Father is in control of your life. His desire for you may not match your life vision, but you must trust where He is leading you. God knows the whole picture, which you do not. His wish for you is given in Jeremiah 29:11(CJB)
“For I know what plans I have in mind for you,” says Adonai[i], “plans for well-being, not for bad things; so that you can have hope and a future.”
What follows are verses to help you reach the goal of allowing God to have total control of your life:
1. Be still in God’s presence: “Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among all the nations. I am honored over all the earth.” (Psalm 46:10, VOICE)
2. Expect warfare from the Enemy: “If you think you are strong, you should be careful not to fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:12, NCV)
3. Keep your eyes on God: “My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion.” (Proverbs 3:21, NIVUK)
4. Read the Bible and pray: “All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice.” (2 Timothy 3:16, DRA)
5. “Pray in the Spirit in every situation. Use every kind of prayer and request there is. For the same reason be alert. Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God’s people.” (Ephesians 6:18, NOG)
6. Search for God: “So I tell you to ask, and you will receive. Search and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened for you.” (Luke 11:9, GW)
7. Trust in God: “Trust the Lord completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, ERV)
8. Unburden on God: “Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, ISV)
9. Enjoy life: “Seek your happiness in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desire.” (Psalm 37:4, GNT)[ii]
“When we surrender to God, we let go of our attachment to how things happen on the outside, and we become more concerned with what happens on the inside.” (Marianne Williamson)
