Walking in Jesus Boots

If you’ve ever considered becoming a Christian but are unsure of where the verses are in the Bible that will assist you in the decision-making process.[i] Here is everything you will need to make the right decision. (There is now no excuse to wait.) [ii]

1.    Romans 3:10, 3:23 – The fact of sin. (You are a sinner.) “No one is righteous-not even one…For everyone has sinned. We all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”[iii]

2.   Romans 6:23 – The penalty for sin is death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

3.   Romans 5:8 - Christ paid the penalty for your sin. “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

4.    Romans 10:9-10, 13 - You must accept Jesus as your only way to Heaven. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in you heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

5.    I John 5:11-13 The assurance of salvation. “… God gave us eternal life; the life is in His Son. So, whoever has the Son has life; whoever rejects the Son, rejects life…You who believe in God’s Son will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life.”[iv]

6.   Ephesians 2:8-9 - Salvation is not secured by your good works. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”

7.   John 3:16 - Biblical salvation completely summarized in a nutshell. “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”[v]

[i] “Jesus boots” are men’s sandals. Leading people to eternal life is doing (or walking) as Jesus would.

[ii] Over half of the verses listed in this post are from the book of Romans. These verses make up the Roman’s Road (to salvation). The plus is further verses outside the book of Romans that add additional understanding.

[iii] All scripture passages are taken from the New Living Translation (NLT) of the Bible unless otherwise noted.

[iv] Taken from The Message (MSG) paraphrase of the Bible

[v] If you’ve been a Christian for some time now, this post may help you to re-confirm your beliefs. It’s a great way to share the salvation message with someone.
