Getting Carded

The perfectly crafted greeting card can invoke a variety of feelings from both the sender to the receiver. When both art and words are masterfully combined together (via paper or electronically) such feelings like empathy, love, laughter, sorrow, encouragement, understanding, and pride can be transmitted to an important individual (in the life of the person sending the card).

When I saw the following greeting on the front of a Sunshine greetings card, it definitely made me stop and consider the honesty of the words. “A life well-lived inspires others to fully enjoy all that the world has to offer.”

How will others view your legacy when you’re no longer here? Will memories of who you were here on Earth evoke shame, anger, love, or amusement? What answers do you come up with when you take a hard look at who you are right now in your life?

What makes one’s life valuable to others? The Bible provides these three important insights.
·       Being focused on others (like Jesus was) makes life worthwhile. (Matthew 10:39)

·       Life is your own unique race; make sure you run it efficiently and wisely. (I Corinthians 9:24-25)

·       Choose to constantly grow more knowledgeable because (in light of eternity) life is short. (Psalm 90:12)

If you seek to become a godly person, do the opposite of what is described in I John 2:16 (MSG). ”Practically everything that goes on in the world – wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important – has nothing to do with the Father.”  Improve yourself.
