Be All That You Can Be

The motto that I saw (close to a Spot Free Car Wash on Stelzer Road in Columbus) for marines.com is “dedicated to a sense of honor.” What negative things in our world today would stop if we lived the above? That list is too numerous to list in this post. (Maybe you can think of your own reasons.)

Philippians 2:3 (MSG) provides additional insight on how to have an honorable reputation with others. “Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead.”

What follows are a few biblical insights on honor.

God is honored when you…

1.  Are whole heartedly worshiping Him, and not faking it to impress others. (Isaiah 29:13)

2.  Take care of your body, which enables you to serve Him. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

3.  Help those less fortunate than you. (James 1:27)

4.  Respect those in authority over you whether that is spiritually, biologically, or employment-wise. (Malachi 1:6)

If you are a follower of Christ, true happiness only happens when you are living according to Proverbs 3:9. “Honor God with everything you own; give Him the first and the best.”

Spiritually, is the Almighty getting sumptuous fine food cuisine or fast food (or pizza) leftovers from you? What do you want Him to have, and how can you make your choice more apparent to Him?
