“If
you must choose, take a good name rather than great riches; for to be held in
loving esteem is better than silver and gold.” (Proverbs
22:1, TLB)
When a couple is expecting, they may
choose a more creative route when naming their child. If both parents’ decide
that they want their child to have equal parts of their first name, you get a
name similar to my blonde, collage-age co-worker. Jaisa (long a) has a father
named “Jay” and a mother named “Lisa.”
Both parents may also decide to alter
either the first or middle name of the father or mother to result in the baby’s
name. A great example of this would be my daughter’s first name. “Allena” was
taken from my middle name of “Allen.”
With unique creativity also comes
difficulty. Some kids can easily find
their names on things like pencils, Christmas ornaments, plaques and a host of
other items. People with original names similar to the above, find themselves
on the “special order” list.
No matter how a person got their name.
When your name is mentioned what kind of behavior do people associate with it?
Do any words like happy, encouraging, horrible, fun, adventuresome, or
wonderful come to mind? Are people joyful, irritated, or refuse to see you?
At the beginning of this post was a
verse. Please read it again. The best thing in life for you to achieve is to
protect your name. Once it is tarnished, it’s very difficult to restore it to
“favorable status again.” Be sure of your actions and comments for they
determine the individual behind the name.
