“Bring me a worm that can comprehend a man, and then I will show you a man that can comprehend the Triune God.” (John Wesley)

Corinthians 13:14, International Children’s Bible
The
grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God [the Father], and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be
with you all.
Our God is one God in three distinct persons
(Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). On many occasions in the Bible the Trinity works together:
· Creation of the World: Genesis 1-2, John 1
· Mary’s Incarnation: Luke 1:35
· Jesus’ Baptism: Matthew 3:16-17
· Jesus’ Death on a Cross: Hebrews 9:14
· Jesus’ Resurrection: John 10:18, Acts
2:24, Romans 1:4
· Our Salvation: 1 Peter 1:2
How does the Trinity
apply to your life today?
1.
The
Trinity is your faultless example on how to live together in unity.
2.
You
have a Triune God that ministers to you in the love language that means the
most to you (whether it’s words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts,
acts of service, or physical touch). [i]
The English word "Trinity" comes
from Latin
word "Trinitas" (the number three).
“Trinitas” is formed from “Trinus” (triple) and the “Unitas” from the
word “Unus” (one). The word “Trinity” is not the Bible, but the concept
is.
Here are two examples of the Trinity: Think
of a three dimensional God passing through his two dimensional humanity. Even if the two-dimensional human being is
unable to see all sides of the tree dimensional God that does not change all
three sides from existing.
Looking at your hand is made possible by the
light passing through it. The blood pulsing underneath the skin of your hand
makes it warm. When you wave your hand at someone, air passes through the space
between your fingers. Light, heat, and air work silently together without you
even knowing it.
In today’s often warped relationships, humans
can pass cycles of abuse down from parent to offspring. Unlike this faulty
example, the Trinity is always in absolute harmony with each other as they
submit to each member’s needs.
“The Holy Trinity
doesn't need our permission to carry on in their endlessly resourceful work of
making all things new. That we are invited to catch even a glimpse of the
splendor is grace. All of it, every breath and every second [are] grace.” (Rachel Held Evans)
