Stop

“When you can stop you don't want to, and when you want to stop, you can't. That’s addiction.” (Luke Davies)

Many years ago, a close friend of mine jokingly suggested I write about the topic of “bestiality.” (Yes, this is the correct spelling of the word. It is not spelled as “beastiality.” Check the spelling on the Internet if you don't believe me.) At that time in my life, I was not at a point where I could discuss this topic with the respect and compassion it deserves (in a non-judgmental manner that blog members could understand).  Though the material in this post may be difficult to understand, I believe it is crucial that we all have a basic, educated comprehension on this topic.

While reading this post, remember that we all have those places in our lives where we fail our wonderful God on a regular basis. Humans have put a severity scale on the sins people commit. I believe to our heavenly Father all sin (against Him) is wrong.  The Bible has many verses that forbid the practice of bestiality. Leviticus 18:23 (VOICE) is one of them: Do not engage in a sexual act with an animal. This includes men as well as women. Such behavior defiles you, and perverts the proper order of things.

The two words “zoophilia and “bestiality refer to different sorts of human to non-human animal sexual behavior. Zoophilia describes a human being who is sexually aroused (or stimulated) by an animal. Bestiality is the act of a human having sex with a non-human animal whether penetration happens (or not) for human gratification.

This lifestyle has its risks with three animal diseases:

·        Leptospirosis with contact of an animal’s sexual organs can lead to meningitis (and about 10% of the cases are life-threatening). This applies to dogs, horses, and sheep.

·        Echinococcosis involves the transmission of parasitic worms from the faces of the animal. The beginning phase of this disease can last for a year with no symptoms (which make it difficult to diagnose). Cysts will begin to grow in the liver, brain, and lungs before spreading to other organs. This disease can be fatal if left untreated.  This applies to dogs and cats.

·        Rabies is present in the saliva, and is very serious. In unvaccinated humans the disease is fatal if not treated immediately.  This applies to dogs, cats, and horses.

As to why this addiction happens, I can’t say. I do have an educated guess I will provide you with. I believe it’s all a matter of control (like other addictions involve). When this addict’s life is in emotional turmoil, this addiction is one thing they have control over. Chances are the addict doesn’t really want do this (because they know its wrong). The high they get in the act (and afterward as well as the animal’s reaction) makes their external issues go away for a short period of time. (Think about the sense of euphoria a chocolate addict gets from a chocolate bar.)

Below are four sobering statistics about bestiality:

·        56% of male sex offenders, 55% of female sex offenders, 38% of child sex offenders, and 11% of rapist’s reports having sexually abused an animal.

·        29% of inmates arrested for pornography-related offenses collected animal porn as well as child porn. 25% of men who viewed adult pornography online also viewed animal porn.

·        6% of juvenile male offenders admitted to sexual contact with an animal.

·        35% of arrests for bestiality also involve child sexual abuse or exploitation. In addition, nearly 40% of offenders have prior criminal records for bestiality, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, battery, adult rape, substance abuse, trespass, public indecency, even murder.

I Corinthians 6:12 (TPT) gives those in throws of addiction a great reminder: It’s true that our freedom allows us to do anything, but that doesn’t mean that everything we do is good for us. I’m free to do as I choose, but I choose to never be enslaved to anything. Satan is hoping you get completely engulfed by the addiction trap. He wants you to fail. God has provided you with professionals that wish you to be victorious in the midst of your addiction.

Coming through on the other side to the daylight of life without this irritant will be some of the hardest emotional work you have ever done in your life. With God’s guidance, you have everything you need to succeed. Reach out, and grasp the freedom your heavenly Father wants you to have. [i]
