“I have learned that there is
more power in a good strong hug than in a thousand meaningful words.” (Ann
Hood)
In
attempts to save people from catching COVID-19, social distancing has been put
in place. Though this has most likely kept groups of people (like the elderly)
healthy, it’s had an adverse effect on people that require physical touch (are
tactile) to be emotionally happen.
Carol
Cc Miller says this: “Hugging is a
silent way of saying… You matter to me. “I think hugging is one of the most
personal things you can do. For me, it’s hard to give a sincere hug to someone,
and not have it connect you somehow to that person. “If
you're angry at a loved one, hug that person. And mean it. You may not want to
hug - which is all the more reason to do so. It's hard to stay angry when
someone shows they love you, and that's precisely what happens when we hug each
other.” (Walter Anderson)
If this pandemic has helped us to
realize anything, it is the power of the human embrace. When Coronavirus
finally does come to an end (as it eventually will), may we never forget how a
simple hug can help someone to not be so upset over a challenge, or help to
make the good times even better. Psalm 147:3 (TPT) says God wants to make you (and
those you love) emotionally whole (and well) during the challenges that
COVID-19 may be placing on your life. He heals the wounds of
every shattered heart. Are you ready for that? Your heavenly Father is just
a prayer away.[i]
