Most people wish they could erase suffering out of the dictionary. Today's culture of comfort and instant gratification has no patience for suffering - most people want to drug it, escape it, divorce it; do anything but live with it.” (Joni Eareckson Tada)
Our culture today is a world the instant. Just take a moment
to think about all the things in your life to happen instantly, better, and
quicker (that includes everything from food preparation to the Internet to
getting over a relationship that went bad or an addiction.) Not everything in life (our challenges) can be
fixed immediately. (What’s worth having may not be easy to acquire.)
I believe many times we give up on the miraculous power of
our eternal heavenly Father because He doesn’t work quick enough within our
limited time span (maybe days, months, or years). That absolutely doesn’t make
sense to me. What about you? How many people have quit on God when His answer
to their question was on its way. Danny Gokey’s song, “Haven’t Seen It Yet,”
creatively explains the dilemma I just spoke of:
Have you been praying and you still have no answers?
Have you been pouring out your heart for so many years?
Have you been hoping that things would have changed by now?
Have you cried all the faith you have through so many tears?
Don't forget the things that He has done before
And remember He can do it all once more
Chorus
It's
like the brightest sunrise
Waiting on the other side of the darkest night
Don't ever lose hope, hold on and believe
Maybe you just haven't seen it, just haven't seen it yet
You're closer than you think you are
Only moments from the break of dawn
All His promises are just up ahead
Maybe you just haven't seen it, just haven't seen it yet
Maybe you just haven't seen it, just haven't seen it yet
Maybe you just haven't seen it
He had the solution before you had the problem
He sees the best in you when you feel at your worst
So in the questioning don't ever doubt His love for you
'Cause it's only in His love that you'll find a breakthrough
Chorus
He is moving with a love so deep
Hallelujah for the victory
Good things are coming even when we can't see
We can't see it yet, but we believe that
He is moving with a love so deep
Hallelujah for the victory
Good things are coming even when we can't see
We can't see it yet, but we believe that
Chorus
Maybe you just haven't seen it, just haven't seen it
yet
Maybe you just haven't seen it, just haven't seen it yet
In today’s society, right things happen will
not occur instantly without great effort. It can be a long, tough battle to
override the wrong for right. Proverbs 25:26 (ERV) tells us all what good
people are who avoid standing against evil (by not giving up). Good people who don’t stand strong against evil are like springs that
have been polluted or pools that have turned dirty and muddy. Brenda Buster
reminds us, “Instant gratification is short-lived and full of
regret.” Author Jodi Picoult reminds us of this important aspect of
instant: “Life
can change in an instant. Don’t be so worried about the future that you forget
to celebrate what you have right now.”
