My Best

“I will do my best. That is all I can do. I ask for your help, and God's [too].” (Lyndon B. Johnson)

I think the 2020 presidential election is a lot like the decision I made to have weight loss surgery. The results will change everything for all of us in the future. Reelecting Donald Trump for four more years (or making Joe Biden our newest President) will have far reaching results for America (just as my bariatric surgery will have far reaching results for my health by possibly extending my life in my future). It’s important to remember that both President Trump and Mr. Biden are imperfect men that have no market on the art of being perfect (even if they believe they do).

Can you imagine the amount of unrealistic stress that goes with a job with so much responsibility for this country? Premature hair graying is a given at the end of that person’s time in the White House. Many people don’t want the job, but many people have an opinion on how it should be done

It is important to remember that whoever wins this election was given the position by God (or it wouldn’t be so). The results of November 3, 2020 are not a surprise to your heavenly Father. He ordained it to happen the way it did. Romans 13:1 (ERV) says it this way: All of you must obey the government rulers. Everyone who rules was given the power to rule by God. And all those who rule now were given that power by God.

Emotions will be running high in the months to follow this election.  How can you protect yourself from all that will occur in the future? Half the country will be happy with the winner, and the other half will be upset. (It seems to be a no-win situation for the chosen candidate.) Two Bible verses give the one active service you can do daily that will greatly assist whoever wins this election (and beyond), and can also help to calms your nerves during this adjustment period for that individual. Can you guess what it is?

1 Timothy 2:2 (ERV)

You should pray for rulers and for all who have authority. Pray for these leaders so that we can live quiet and peaceful lives—lives full of devotion to God and respect for him.

2 Chronicles 7:14( NOG)

However, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves,   pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways,
then I will hear their prayer from heaven, forgive their sins,
and heal their country.

Pray is the key to unlocking God’s best for you. Are you unlocking the right door for what your heavenly Father wants for you?[i]
