The Belief

“Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.” (Max Lucado)

Personally, I believe there are two kinds of people in the world. In group one, these individuals have some degree of faith in God, and believe there are some things that can’t be explained. One must exhibit faith that these are miracles from a heavenly Father. The other person (in group two) has no faith, and only believes in that which their senses can come to terms with in their world. Their motto is that “everything has logical explanation.”

People in group two often get’s converted to group one when something happens to them that defies a logical explanation. The only justification for this event is a miracle from God that requires they have faith in the unbelievable.  What has happened takes this person outside their comfort zone as they come to terms with the concept of faith. I am a firm believer that your family upbringing can contribute to the degree of faith you have as an individual.

The biblical definition for faith is found in Hebrews 11:1 (TPT): Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen. With that in mind, below are a few important things to remember about faith.

1 Corinthians 2:5, TPT- For God intended that your faith not be established on man’s wisdom but by trusting in his almighty power.

Ephesians 2:8-9, VOICE-For it’s by God’s grace that you have been saved. You receive it through faith. It was not our plan or our effort. It is God’s gift, pure and simple. You didn’t earn it, not one of us did, so don’t go around bragging that you must have done something amazing.

Hebrews 11:6, ERV- Without faith no one can please God. Whoever comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who sincerely try to find Him.

Hebrews 11:7, ERV-Noah was warned by God about things that he could not yet see. But he had faith and respect for God, so he built a large boat (an ark) to save his family. With his faith, Noah showed that the world was wrong. And he became one of those who are made right with God through faith.

As your walk with God becomes more personal, your faith will also grow too. What in your life right now do you need greater faith to come to terms with? God is waiting to hear from you now.
