The Lord spoke his
word through Haggai the prophet on the twenty-first day of the seventh month.
This is what the Lord said: 2 “Speak to Zerubbabel son of
Shealtiel, governor of Judah. Speak also to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high
priest. And speak to the rest of the people who were left alive. Say: 3 ‘Do
any of you who are still alive remember how beautiful the Temple was before it
was destroyed? What does it look like now? The truth is it means nothing to
you!’ 4 But the Lord says: ‘Zerubbabel, be brave. Joshua son of
Jehozadak, the high priest, be brave. And all you people who live in the land,
be brave,’ says the Lord. ‘Work, because I am with you,’ says the Lord of
heaven’s armies.
5 ‘I made a promise to you
when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit is still with you. So don’t be afraid.’ 6 “This
is what the Lord of heaven’s armies says: ‘In a short time I will shake the
heavens and earth once again. And I will shake the sea and the dry land. 7 I
will shake all the nations. All the nations will bring their wealth. Then I
will fill this Temple with glory,’ says the Lord of heaven’s armies. 8 ‘The
silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says the Lord of heaven’s armies. 9 ‘The
new Temple will be more beautiful than the one that was destroyed,’ says the
Lord of heaven’s armies. ‘And in this place I will give peace to the people,’
says the Lord of heaven’s armies.” (Haggai 2:1-9, ICB)
Listen to the encouragement
of God:
1.
He has all the strength you need to carry on.
The Lord is my strength and my power; he has become my salvation. This is my God,
whom I will praise, the God of my ancestors, whom I will acclaim. (Exodus
15:2,
CEB)
See
Haggai 2:4-5 above
2.
He has all the resources you need to rely on.
My God will meet your every need
out of his riches in the glory that is found in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19, CEB)
See
Haggai 2:8 above
3.
He has all the promises you need to stand on.
In Jesus we hear a resounding
“yes” to all of God’s many promises. This is the reason we say “Amen” to and
through Jesus when giving glory to God. (2 Corinthians 1:20, VOICE)
See
Haggai 2:6-7, 9 above
A. The treasures of all nations will
come.
9 But you are a chosen people, set
aside to be a royal order of priests, a holy nation, God’s own; so that
you may proclaim the wondrous acts of the One who called you out of inky darkness into shimmering light. 10 Once
you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received
mercy, but now you have received it. (1 Peter 2:9-10, VOICE)
See
Haggai 2:7 above
B.
Peace will come
We have been made right with God
because of our faith. So we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1, ERV)
See
Haggai 2:9 above
“God doesn’t give you the people you want, he gives you
the people you need. To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to
make you the person you were meant to be.”
