“You, beloved, are the salt of the earth.
But if salt becomes bland and loses its saltiness, can anything make it salty
again? No, it is useless. It is
tossed out, thrown away, or trampled.” (Matthew 5:13, VOICE)
The purpose of today’s
church should be to see lives transformed from the centerpoint out so that
Jesus becomes the centerpoint of those lives. How do we lead people to make Jesus
the centerpoint of their lives?
How are we to see lives
transformed from the centerpoint out by functioning as salt?
1.
By preserving the ministry
of Jesus
2.
By flavoring our world with
Jesus
3.
By growing others in Jesus
34 “Salt is a good thing. But if the salt loses its salty taste, you can’t
make it salty again. 35 It is worth
nothing. You can’t even use it as dirt or dung. People just throw it away. “You
people, who hear me, listen!” (Luke 14:34-35, ERV)
How do we do this practically?
1.
Show love in a differently
“My children, our love should not be only words and talk. No, our love
must be real. We must show our love by the things we do.” (1 John 3:18, ERV)
2.
Share
truth clearly
“But before people can pray to the Lord for help, they must believe in
him. And before they can believe in the Lord, they must hear about him. And for
anyone to hear about the Lord, someone must tell them.” (Romans 10:14, ERV)
“You can be committed to church but not
committed to Christ, but you cannot be committed to Christ and not committed to
church.” (Joel Osteen)[i]
