You

“The only thing limiting God in your life is you.” (God-Still-Speaks.com)

It is an agreed upon fact in all Christian circles that God is all-powerful. His power is limitless. So powerful is His Word that he commanded the earth, trees, and oceans to come into existence. Isaiah 40:22 (ICB) says, God sits on His throne above the circle of the earth.  And compared to him, people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the skies like a piece of cloth. He spreads them out like a tent to sit under.” Did you know that you can limit the power of God from operating in your life?
I seriously doubt any of us would deliberately limit God, but the truth remains that God is daily trying to set us up, to give us success, and to use us in influential ways. Today, it is vital that we take limits off God and learn to flow in his authority and love on a daily basis.  It amazes and pleases God when we take His Word at face value, rather than seeing it through our false beliefs and traditions. It is time to remove every limiting belief that we have placed on God. In your life let Him be as big, as good, and as powerful as His Word declares Him to be. You will be amazed as what He will do in you, for you, and through you.

https://d.adroll.com/cm/aol/out?advertisable=EXVVNMW2CBB6TKMDCMGHQ4The reality is that we don’t live like God is limitless. We treat God like He can only do so much in our lives. We also limit ourselves. Maybe you’ve told yourself something like “God would never use me because__________”, or “I’m not capable of what God is asking me to do”. We have created labels on ourselves and minimize what we think God can do in our lives. Here are four ways we do that.

1.   Lack of Faith-Lack of faith comes from the idea that you think your ways and ideas are better than God’s. As a parent, I see things from a different perspective than my adult daughter. I see outcomes, risks, hurts, arguments, etc. My adult daughter can’t see those things so as a parent. I want her to trust me that I have her best interest in mind. God is just like that. God always has our best interest in mind. He knows what’s ahead. Let’s trust Him and enjoy His limitless knowledge of what’s ahead for us.

2.   Lack of Growth-We limit God when we aren’t growing. By growing I mean the fact that our confidence in who God is and confidence that God is going to do what He said He is going to do. We grow through Bible memorization, serving, talking about our faith, and reading the Bible. The more we grow the more we see God for who He is.

3.   Lack of Obedience-Obedience is a by-product of trust. When we don’t trust God chances are we aren’t obeying God. God calls us to do extreme things. To love our enemies, who does that these days? When we are not obedient we are limiting what God can do in us and through us.

4.   Lack of Surrender-Surrender is basically giving up control of your life and giving authority and control of your life to God. The Bible says God’s ways our higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He has so much more for us and our lives than we can ever imagine, but have we surrendered to His ways and plans?

“Beware in your prayers above everything else of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do.” (Andrew Murray)[i]
