Most kids enjoy endlessly jumping into big bunches of autumn leaves that they can mess up. It’s someone else’s job to neatly rake them up into neat piles. Can you imagine quicker, easier work of eventually doing your entire leaf cleanup?
Before you start working, familiarize yourself with the guidelines your town has in place for fall cleanup by checking out your town’s municipal website. You don’t want to build giant leaf mounds only to find out that the town won’t collect the leaves for several more weeks, or end up with a fine because you used the wrong disposal bag.
It’s important to gather up your autumn leaves, and allow your garden to breathe again. A cloak of leaves on the lawn can cause problems by suffocating your yard. Think of the autumn leaves as a harvest opportunity to make a needed soil improver for your garden. It’s a free resource that can’t be ignored. Here are a variety of ways to remove all those leaves from your yard:
1. Rake leaves
up from your yard (and garden).
2. Blow and vacuum
leaves up from your yard.
3. Mow and
mulch leaves up from your yard.
4. Grab leaves
up from your yard with heavy duty Hand Leaf Grabs.
5. Make leaf
mould with a Leaf Composting Sack
Keep these
three tips in mind with removal of your leaves:
1.
Keep the job manageable, and don’t begin an entire
season’s worth of leaf cleanup in one day. Make sure to schedule leaf clearing
duties throughout the season. Always avoid working in windy weather because it
is a waste of your valuable time.
2.
Roll out a tarp because there is no need to rake leaves
all the way across the lawn to the curb. You’ll expend less energy raking
leaves onto a tarp.
3.
Try
the expert’s solution by
renting a back pack blower (from your local home improvement
store) for less than $50 a day. If you’re
pressed for time, or have allowed your leaves to accumulate on you, this is
your solution.
“One
of the great lessons the fall of the leaf teaches, is this: do your work well
and then be ready to depart when God shall call.” (Tryon
Edwards)[i]
