Silent Night

Have you ever sat down in the evening (after supper) with your family to watch a few hours’ worth of your favorite live (or pre-recorded) shows before everyone eventually goes in their own directions?

When the TV is turned on, you discover the cable signal is lost, the screen has gone black, and in bright white letters the following is plastered across your TV. “Delay in starting to play this program. Please wait.”

There seems to be no option other than to do as you’re being instructed to. Your programming never returns. You do everything you know to do before you come to your last effort of calling your cable provider.

The Almighty has many times asked me to patiently wait on Him as there have often been a variety of delays in many areas of my life.

Some of those times God has asked me to trust, and remain still (in Him) and silent have happened with my employment, my health, my marriage, fatherhood, my relationships with others, and even my connection to Him.

It is never easy to allow the Heavenly Father to call all the directions on how one’s life should go. In the wide picture of your existence here in the world, obeying divine wisdom will never lead you astray. It’s a win/win situation that will never make you end up the loser. This doesn’t mean that everything the Heavenly Father may ask you to do will always be simple to put into action.

I truly believe that one of the Almighty’s most majestic birds has to be the eagle. Isaiah 40:31 (MSG) states, “But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles.  They run and don’t get tired. They walk, and don’t lag behind.”

Like the eagle, we all need to fly high above the small stuff of our life that often chains us down. Stay focused on the race of your life, and move on to something better. (Hebrews 12:1-3, Philippians 3:14)

Often times, we try to settle all our many issues in our own strength. Try something new, and allow God to energize you. What have you got to lose? (You might just gain it all).
