Have you ever discovered
that you were lied to about something extremely important (in your life) by a
close family member or friend? Your feelings could vary from those of hurt and
betrayal to apathy.
You wonder what else you
should have expected from their character. At times, most of us have pondered
these questions in our mind. Are there any absolute truths in this world, or is
it all relative to each individual?
Truth is as real (as you and
me) in the person of Jesus Christ. (John 14:6). Some people define truth as
what works for them, or what fits their viewpoint. Many females may not be
familiar with term “vanity sizing” when it relates to their clothing purchases,
but the concept is one that may not ring true to them.
Marking larger clothing with
tags reading small sizes falsely tricks women into thinking they are than scale
says. This feeling of body transformation makes them more likely to purchase lots
of merchandise from clothing retailers that adhere to this practice.
Like the above example, many
people want their brand of truth until in better version that of what flatters
them, and their every desire. (2 Timothy 4:3-5)
Remember, reality doesn’t
accommodate itself to our sincerely held beliefs. We have to accommodate
ourselves to truth. Not all religions can be an accurate representation of
reality.
When you desire to find
absolute truth, you must examine the evidence of Jesus’ existence, and
intentionally seek after God with all your heart. (Isaiah 45:18-19, Jeremiah
29:11-13, John 5:39-40, 17:17) You need to align (and conform) your beliefs to
the truth of a divine, God-breathed authority, the Bible. (Matthew 6:33)
Do you truly believe the
words of Psalm 119:43 (MSG)? “Don’t ever
deprive me of truth, not ever – your commandments are what I depend on.” How much better could your life be if this
verse was a reality in it?
