In the home/temple of Eli, the boy Samuel heard God’s
voice in the middle of the night. His response eventually turned out to be,
“Speak, I’m your servant, ready to listen.” For all the details, read I Samuel
3. Upon entering most stores, you will find a greeter proclaiming, “Good
evening (morning or afternoon). Welcome to (the store name).” People seem to like this small touch of human
kindness before they get ready to spend money.
“How can I help you?” or “Do you need me?” are other
ways to add thoughtfulness to your interaction with other individuals when you
sense a need. Are these phrases part of your vocabulary? If not, you should
consider them.
A customer service attitude in life causes you to seek
out ways that you can be of service to others. This makes the bad times in life
much more bearable to know your experiences may help someone else with a
similar experience go through the situation just a little easier. God doesn’t
waste anything in your life. It’s all of use to Him. When the Almighty knocks
on the door of your heart, maybe your response to His urging should be the same
as the boy Samuel (who eventually became the Prophet Samuel). “Speak; I’m your
servant, ready to listen.”
