“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on
religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show
you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting
on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew
11:28-30, The Message)
[The above words of Jesus ring true today. Let me ask you this.] What’s next for you? Are you wrestling with a decision? Has God been putting ideas in your heart, but you’re not sure what to do with them? Is he prompting you to let go of something that has had you tied up in knots? Do you need to forgive someone, or let go of a past circumstance? Do you feel like you’ve been out in the desert – too far from God’s reach?
How do we receive this kind of depth of soul refreshment? REST
How do we do know what the next step is? We find it when we are at REST. Slow down, rest. To some of you rest may sound wonderful; to others it may sound awful. Some of us are conditioned to strive and fight –resting may seem like it is for the LAZY!
Slowly read Matthew 11:28-30. Listen, close your eyes. Hear His personal invitation to you today. Feel free to read your favorite scripture passage instead of the above one, and wait and listen to what the Lord will speak to you today. READY, SET, REST!
