In less than a week, I have my annual
cancer check up with oncologist, Dr. Robert Baiocchi, at the James Cancer
Center in Columbus, OH. My Lymphoma has been in remission since March 2010.
Though I’ve learned a lot of life lessons during these past five years, I wish
I could confidentially state that I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Part of me
wishes to go back to “the old normal, and the direction it was headed. Though
the “new normal” is pleasant, it is not what I anticipated in my life.
When these appointments come up, I have
to be careful not to play the “what if” game. Should the cancer come back what
treatments am I willing to take? Dr. Baiocchi assures me the further out in
remission I am; the less likely there is of a cancer occurrence.
Just like the shepherds at Jesus birth,
I need a heavenly message to calm my racing thoughts. “Don’t be afraid…Glory to
God in the heavenly heights. Peace to all men and women on earth who please
Him.” (Luke 2:10, 14, The Message) God’s got your back. I find
it comforting that someone is making sure my life follows a master plan.
