“It’s obvious it? The place where your
treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.” Does something about this quote sound vaguely
familiar? It should. This translation of Matthew 6:21 of the Bible is taken
from The Message. It hits close to
home. Doesn’t it?
Have
you ever watched a church (or city) kid’s Easter Egg Hunt. It’s usually
complete pandemonium as children run in every direction to find colorful
plastic eggs full of candy. Once the treasures are discovered, they are quickly
placed in colorful Easter baskets to show loving parents (friends or relatives)
close by.
Adults
do something similar to the above except their treasures are kept close by to
view (and enjoy). Honestly answer the following scenario. Some disaster (fire,
tornado, you choose the catastrophe) has wiped out everything you own except the
one thing you hold the most dear to you. Think carefully about your answer. It
will reveal a great deal about you as a person.
Your
answer may include your family (immediate), pets, photographs, valuable sports memorabilia,
or your electronic devices. The answers can be as unique as you are. Take time
to consider what is of greatest value to you. This will help you be honest with
the person you truly are deep down inside of you. Where to you want to be the
most. Chances are your treasures are there too. Do you agree?
