Just Like Family

I’ve always believed God has a reason for allowing certain events in our life. There are certain individuals that enter our world through friends or family members. Once these “new family members” entered our lives (or our home), we had no way of knowing how easily they would fit into the dynamics of our world as we know it.
Recently, a good friend of my daughter’s (that the Kinker family has known forever) has felt comfortable enough visiting our home frequently. Bobbi and I (and the dogs) enjoy her visits. She lives with her mother (to help out financially); has some health concerns; attends the same college as Allena; and my daughter and her work together at a local steak and seafood restaurant.
When my daughter’s friend (a best friend) started calling me dad (and Bobbi mom), it was a pleasant surprise that I didn’t know I even liked. Her parents are divorced, but very much alive. Allena is a gift from God even with all her wonderful quirks. We had always planned on having more than one child, but it never worked out.

It is wonderful to have a second daughter that we didn’t have to raise, or pay for. It still amazes me how completely unrattled Allena’s friend is by her bizarre behavior (at times). She seems be OK with our highly emotional household. Always keep your eyes wide open to those that God may want to bring into your life. It may be exactly what your looking for.
