Actions and Words

“If your actions don't live up to your words, you have nothing to say.” (DaShanne Stokes)

For family members and friends that know me, chances are that they consider me both dependable and loyal. I need to make a confession to you about my dependability. I am glad it comes across that to those who care about me, but the truth is the real reason I do things soon after I am asked has a great deal to do with my failing memory. I forget things quickly if I don’t do them immediately. I would like to admit this is part of getting older, but I have not been remembering events in my life (after they happen) for a very long time.

With my loyalty, what I say and do is actually how I feel about that individual. For those I love and care about, I only want the best for them (both emotionally and physically). That also includes someone who is dying, and in a lot of discomfort. As much as I will miss that individual, I want them at peace, and for God to heal them in Heaven. Of course, my feelings are not so wonderful if you upset me (or someone I care for). Mr. Nice Guy is gone, and the angrier, blunt, screaming, flushed-face version of me comes out, which no one tends to enjoy.

Neal A. Maxwell had this to say about dependability: God does not begin by asking us about our ability, but only about our availability, and if we then prove our dependability, he will increase our capability. Have you known for sometime now that God has a special mission that you are the best candidate for? Have you tried to ignore His voice? You know His persistent calling won’t go away until you obey Him. Can God depend on you when He needs you most?
