Insist

“Love has a powerful way of removing the mask we all insist on wearing.” (Jessy)

How can you live in community without the mask?

STOP:

1.   Projecting

Some people are so proud of themselves, and they look down on everyone else. (Proverbs 30:13, ERV)

2.   Protecting

Do your best to be the kind of person God will accept, and give yourself to him. Be a worker who has no reason to be ashamed of his work, one who applies the true teaching in the right way. (2 Timothy 2:15, ERV)

START:

1.   Meeting

24 We should think about each other to see how we can encourage each other to show love and do good works. 25 We must not quit meeting together, as some are doing. No, we need to keep on encouraging each other. This becomes more and more important as you see the Day [of Jesus’ Return] getting closer. (Hebrews 10:24-25, ERV)

2.   Eating

10 Jesus ate dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and others with bad reputations came and ate with him and his followers. 11 The Pharisees saw that Jesus was eating with these people. They asked his followers, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and other sinners?”

12 Jesus heard them say this. So he said to them, “It is the sick people who need a doctor, not those who are healthy.  (Matthew 9:10-12, ERV)

“You wear a mask for so long [that] you forget who you were beneath it.” (Alan Moore)[i]
