Who Cares

“Massage is the answer...Who cares what the question is.” (Anonymous)

Dear Client,

Prior to your massage therapy session, please take the time to sit down and think about the reasons why you are choosing to see me for treatment. Some of the most common reasons clients need a massage are pain assistance, improves limitations in movement, and mental/emotional well-being.

Out of respect for your time commitment and financial investment, I want this to be an informative and transformative process. I’m hopeful that massage therapy can change your life for the better. I see the best results from clients who are hopeful about their condition, who are clear about their commitment to self-care, and who are willing to make changes in their lifestyle and routine.  We enter a partnership in support of your well-being and wellness journey.

Sometimes chronic discomfort issues are managed over time rather than “fixed.” I’m not in the business of fixing people because you are not broken, and I don’t have any super powers. I’m a facilitator of your body’s amazing ability to heal itself. When combined with a consistent self-care routine of good nutrition, quality sleep, regular exercise, and additional stress management (e.g., meditation, yoga, or spiritual practice), massage can be a life changing gift to you that has long lasting effects.

Massage therapy can calm your nervous system in a way that nothing else can. I encourage you to try a session with many different practitioners until you find your massage therapist(s). Each massage therapist possesses a unique skill set and personality.  Sometimes my work may not be the best fit for you, but you are the boss when it comes to your body.

Please let me know if the pressure isn’t right, if it’s too cold or too hot, if you need a pillow, if you’d like me to stop, or change my technique. I realize these things can change from moment to moment, so yes, please let me know as soon as the thought pops into your head.  To respect all of my clients’ time, please remember that the allotted session length includes minutes spent talking. Overall, speaking less and listening to the body more can be the most therapeutic route. I am here to help you to the best of my abilities.

Sincerely,

Jenna D.
