When walking into a job interview, intimidation can bring you doubt. That job you eagerly want might be yours if you learn how to sell yourself. Be sincere and authentic in describing yourself. Regardless of the type of job you are interviewing for, there are certain ways you can describe yourself that will be appealing to those you meet in this process.
You may be asked the question,
"How would you describe yourself?" While this is something that
should be anticipated and practiced, to do the best
job describing yourself; know what kind of personality you have. Here are many different ways to
describe yourself in your next job interview:
1. Accountable: "I take responsibility for
my actions, and when things go wrong I don't look to outside forces to blame.
I'm someone who looks at where I can improve upon the next time around.
Pointing fingers solves nothing."
2. Community
Minded Team Player: "I am
committed to putting aside personal gain for the well-being of those in this
office."
3. Customer
Focused:"Someone
who is concerned with their department’s needs by consistently asking questions
to uncover what is needed."
4. Driven
to Excellence:
“I am someone that
can consistently meet my employer's expectations. I would describe myself as a person who has
consistently exceeded their goals."
5. Goal
Oriented: "I am
modest, but hard working and I consistently set achievable goals for
myself. Once I've defined my challenges, I take the necessary steps to be
successful in meeting what I need to."
6. Growth
and Development : "I am
someone who is consistently taking the time to continue learning even though
it's not a direct requirement of the job. I find that many times it's a
combination of what you study both directly and indirectly related to your job
that allows for excellence in the workplace."
7.
Leadership: "I am a person
who is able to control a situation rather than have a situation control
them."
8.
Positive Self-Starter: "I am someone
who thinks positively, and can carry out difficult tasks. I'm not an individual
who needs to be micro-managed. When given a specific task, I can figure out the
best ways to solve the problem in an independent manner."
9. Resolute
and Decisive: "I am
someone who demonstrates an unwavering resolve to do whatever must be done to
produce the best long-term results, no matter how difficult."
10. Results
Oriented and Sensible: "I have a
need to produce results. I am the type of person to meet challenges head-on
rather than ignore them, and hope they go away. While I'm an optimistic
person, I am also realistic about the current challenges this department has."
11. Self-Determined: "I am someone who has an
unwavering resolve. I am determined to do well in my job, and am determined to
excel in my career here."
12. Strong
Personal Values: "I am
someone who is mature, straightforward, and who has integrity. Every day,
I work to improve myself and my skills, which is part of maturing and becoming
better at what you need me for."
13.
Top Performer: "I want to be judged by
individual performance and I want be rewarded for my efforts."
14. Vision
for Success: "I seek
to work for a successful company that has strong leadership, vision, and who
recognizes and rewards performers."
“So many people out there have no idea what they
want to do for a living, but they think that by going on job interviews they’ll
magically figure it out. If you’re not sure, that message comes out loud and
clear in the interview.”
