Stand Still

“Now stand still and see the great thing the Lord will do before your eyes.”  (1 Samuel 12:16, ERV)

At times, we’re our own worst critic. We feel guilty about our mistakes and question our abilities. As we condemn our shortcomings, our amazing Heavenly Father is seeing us from a whole different viewpoint. He’s looking at us as how a loving parent looks at their child, but much better.  Christian musical artist, Jason Gray, delves into everything it means to have our worth seen through the microscope of Heaven in his song “Remind Me Who I Am.”

When I lose my way,
And I forget my name,
Remind me who I am.
In the mirror all I see,
Is who I don't wanna be,
Remind me who I am.
In the loneliest places,
When I can't remember what grace is.

Tell me once again who I am to You,
Who I am to You.
Tell me lest I forget who I am to You,
That I belong to You.

When my heart is like a stone,
And I'm running far from home,
Remind me who I am.
When I can't receive Your love,
Afraid I'll never be enough,
Remind me who I am.
If I'm Your beloved,
Can You help me believe it.

Tell me once again who I am to You,
Who I am to You, whoa.
Tell me lest I forget who I am to You.
That I belong to You.

When the Almighty sees us with His limitless love, He looks at us through His Heavenly microscope to see what’s really there. You are seen as…

1.   Beautiful: Beauty is not what we look like on the outside. It’s the beauty within our heart that God values. When He looks at each of us, He sees our goodness shine through. He sees our faith, and our desire to follow Him. He sees that even when we failed to adhere to His commandments, we tried. He sees when we’re genuinely sorry and when we repent. This is all beauty to Him. God sees you as beautiful. Do you?

2.   Capable: God blessed and entrusted each of us with amazing gifts to use to glorify Him and share His Word. He entrusted that gift to us. Maybe it’s the gift of singing, dancing, teaching, nurturing, or speaking. Whatever the gift is, we must use it to minister. Our gifts are important enough that God assigned it to us. He obviously believes in us. God sees you as capable. Do you?

3.   Precious: God cares so much about you that He doesn’t want to lose you to sin. So he continues to hold out for a change in your heart. When you do change your heart, turn from your sin and live according to His Word, He is truly a joy. God sees you as precious. Do you?

4.   Relevant: There is a reason for each one of us. There is a plan. We are an integral part of His whole, and we are each as relevant as every other person that ever existed (including every apostle, saint, or king). We all have the same potential to make a huge impact. God sees you as relevant. Do you?

5.   Worthy: We are worthy of His desire to have a relationship with Him. We are worthy of His amazing forgiveness whenever we ask for it with sincerity, no matter what the sin. We are worthy of God’s most amazing sacrifice. He sent His only son to die for us? We’re worthy enough to share happiness with Him in Heaven. God sees you as worthy. Do you?

“If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes, only then will you realize how special you are to me.” (Anonymous) [i]
