Soul Selfie

In 2015, I purchased a plaque for my adult daughter as a morale booster when I was employed as a greeter at Meijer’s. Several years later after a weekend visit by Allena (from college); the “believe in your selfie” plaque showed up again. I took this as a sign that it should become part of the permanent collection of art in my sleeping room, which was Allena’s original bedroom.[i]

With the click of the camera feature on a cell phone, anyone can instantly capture someone’s location or their emotional state.

If the Almighty were to view a selfie of your soul, what would He see? Would the real significance of who you really are (in Him) come through? Could the following verses help you find an answer to this important question?

1.     “May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace.”[ii]

2.     “God, investigate my life;    get all the facts firsthand.
I’m an open book to you;
    even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back.

I’m never out of your sight. You know everything I’m going to say     before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and you’re there,     then up ahead and you’re there, too—    your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful—    I can’t take it all in!”[iii]

3.     “We pray that God himself, the God of peace, will make you pure—belonging only to Him. We pray that your whole self—spirit, soul, and body—will be kept safe and be blameless when our Lord Jesus Christ comes.  The one who chose you will do that for you. You can trust Him.”[iv]

“Jesus, help us to build our faith in You, and to believe in Your provision for [our] every need. We also ask You to give us a vision of what You want [us to] do in our lives for Your glory; in Jesus name. Amen.”[v]
