Aim to Please

Are you a nice and helpful person that never says “no” to a favor from a friend (even if it will be an inconvenience to you)? You need to be liked and can’t be happy unless everyone you know has positive feelings towards you. It sounds like you have caught the exhausting disease of being a “people pleaser.”[i]

Like a good Parent, your Heavenly Father wants to make me happy. In His infinite wisdom, He knows that everything (I think) I want will always be the best for me. These lyrics help me to better understand just exactly who the Almighty wishes to have an “open door” policy with.[ii]

God likes people, any shape, any color, any size.
You don't have to be an angel to be really special in His eyes.
He said it in John 3:16 and He proved it on Calvary, too.
God likes people, ordinary people, people like me and you.
[iii]

The Heavenly Father’s greatest act of pleasing all His children (past, present, and future) is recorded in John 3:16 (VOICE):
“For God expressed His love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life.”

As the Almighty’s ambassador here on earth (to others in need), I constantly should remind myself of these insightful quotes by religious artist, Brooke Fraser. What about you?[iv]

2.  “I recognize my responsibility…It's funny when I read [about] people who say they never asked to be a role model…I understand that (but as soon as you have influence over people) you have a responsibility with what you do with that influence.”

3.  “There is truth in little corners of our lives. There are hints of it in songs and children's eyes. It's familiar, like an ancient lullaby. What do I live for? We [have] eyes to see [and] ears to hear... [We’ll] find it in our hearts and mouths the Word that saves [us] is near. Shed that shallow skin... Come and live again... Leave all you were before... To believe is to begin.”

[i] “Aim to please” refers to the purpose or goal (of someone or some agency to make the customer satisfied. Yahoo Answers

[ii] An “open door” policy refers to open lines of communication in the workplace with upper management. The office door is always open so come in talk for a bit about what’s on your mind. Doesn’t this sound just like God?

[iii] Chorus of “God Likes People” (performed by the Hemphill’s)
