“When
you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be
alive-to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. You have the power over your
mind-not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”*
When
you wake up in the morning, are you rather grumpy until you get your first cup
of coffee (or a shower) or do you wake up alert (and perpetually perky)? Psalms
118:24 suggests that we should celebrate the new day God has given us to serve
(and honor) Him. Our thoughts should be centered thoughts that are true, noble,
reputable, authentic, compelling, and gracious (Philippians 4:8).
If
throughout your day, you should hear (in your mind) vicious untruths about your
worth, abilities, and true beauty as a child of God that is a blatant lie from
the Devil (John 8:44). God is positive enlightenment. He will give you the
skills to do what He asks of you (Philippians 4:13).
What
does worry accomplish in your life? It makes you sick to your stomach, and it
does nothing in resolving the challenge. Planning is a whole different mindset. It
gives the ability to prepare (with knowledge) for the worst should it appear. Worry
is useless while planning is profitable.
When
something negative happens in your life that is beyond your control, don’t give
in to your desire to worry. Let God bear the burden (I Peter 5:7). He wants to
do that for you. Allow Him to by letting go of it. It’s just that simple.

century emperor, Ceaser Marcus Aurealius
