“What are you most thankful for in
your life?”*
Asking this question at a Thanksgiving Day celebration during my childhood with
extended family never been happened. (Of course, we were all grateful, but just
to ourselves).
When I’ve heard people answer the
above question (other than in a Thanksgiving meal setting), the default answer is “family” which many
people are extremely blessed to have. As a writer, I wonder if individuals can
think deep in their mind for something else. (A creative answer is a wonderful
thing.)
I am more blessed than I deserve
to be with the adoption of my family’s three Chihuahua canines (Chico, Rosco.
and Lola). My Gahanna home tends to be high emotions. The dogs (with their
quirky personalities and unique barks) often act like a milk buffer to a spicy food.
They tend to take down the high
irritability in our residence to just a slight irritation with their humorous
body language, a doggy kiss, or intimate snuggle time. I believe when a dog
owner loses their better half; it’s like they have lost one of the few beings
that was capable of providing true unconditional love. Often times the
unbearable pain can last a lifetime.
Do you know that when the month
of November arrives on the calendar every year; many people’s minds tend to automatically
shift to what makes their life a joy to live, and gives it meaning.
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give
thanks to Him and praise His name.” (Psalms 100:4, NLT) Constant praise
(thankfulness, or gratitude) in someone’s existence helps the bad times not be
as painful; the good events become much more pleasant; and the surprises that
show up occasionally are ways that the Heavenly Father says, “I care for you.
Here is a little something to show you just how important you are to me.” Give
gratitude lifestyle a try.
