All about You

How do you feel about the following quote? “Taking care of yourself isn’t just about you. It’s about showing how much you care for the people you love.”*

Philippians 2: 3-4 (NLT) adds this assessment to the above: “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own [welfare], but take an interest in others to.”

Though it may not seem so at first glance, I believe that both the quote and verse connect each other rather than cause a contradiction. I believe there is an unwritten “escape clause” to the above verse.

If you have not taken measures to improve your health (for whatever the issue is), how can you possibly be at peak performance to serve the Almighty by coming to the aid of others. (I Corinthians 10:31, Colossians 3:17, I Peter 4:11)

For some of you, God has allowed a permanent handicap (or terminal illness) to bring the glory of His will to others through you.
Like the Apostle Paul, you’ve needed to come to terms with a unique request of an all-wise Heavenly Father as spoken in 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT):”My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in [your] weakness.”

Health-wise, I have no idea where you stand. One thing I know for sure is that God has never left your side. No matter what your mind is currently communicating to you about the Almighty.

Be assured that He’s never stopped cherishing you. There is no limit to His love and mercy for you. Pray to Him in your time of need. He is listening all the time. (Psalms 116:1) Who knows how He will answer you request?
